Piezo cable length

I wanted to give the cable running from the piezo to the cortado a little bit more length to allow for easier placement of the tin case. Any body experience any issues with cables longer than 18″? Longer than 3′?

I certainly had noise problems with longer cable – but I was also trying to use phone jacks to get modularity, so that might’ve been the real problem. Can’t be sure.

Decent-quality, well-shielded cable, neatly soldered, should do well up to about 6′.

Does it have to be as big and heavy as the cable supplied in the kit? Can I substitute skinny stuff like you see on a lav mic?
