    Jumped 1K resistor in parallel with R18, made no difference.

    My synth does the same thing. Per zdlAdmin’s suggestion, I was thinking of first temporarily installing an appropriate resistor in parallel using jumper/patch cables to see if the suggested fix works.

    The speaker volume on mine is soft but plenty loud enough to hear witout having to hold it up to my ear.

    Is it in a case and if so is the speaker grill blocked?

    Perhaps the speaker is bad, or is soldered incorrectly or in backwards/upsidedown (reversed polarity)?
